NCSC Liveblog: Opening Ceremonies in English and Chinese plus Interviews with Rutgers, Cornell, GWU, and Seton Hall

Secretary-General Alex Bozzette Opens the Conference

I’m excited to be in Washington, DC to liveblog Georgetown University’s National Collegiate Security Conference! Check out Best Delegate and the NCSC blog for coverage throughout the weekend! You can also follow us on Twitter @BestDelegate and check-in to the NCSC venue on FourSquare.

Whereas most Model UN conference have one opening ceremonies, NCSC had two! The conference’s opening ceremonies featured former special envoy to Sudan, Andrew Natsios. And the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party had its own opening ceremonies — in Mandarin:

I had a chance to ask Under-Secretary-General for Assemblies and Regionals, Joseph Incalcaterra, how he and Committee Chair Matthew Shapiro put it together:

And I also caught up with a few delegates to find out what they’re looking forward to most this weekend:

  • The Rutgers delegation lets the entire conference know it’s here @ 0:01
  • Kelly explains why Cornell decided to attend NCSC for the first time @ 0:38
  • Sheng and Jeremy know that George Washington University is going to win big @ 1:15
  • Harjaap from Seton Hall describes what he’s looking forward to in his committee @ 1:55

Are you at NCSC? Let us know what you think of the conference in the comments!
