“What is MUNTR and what makes it unique?
Model United Nations Turkey (MUNTR) is a conference organized by the Model United Nations Association (MUNA) Turkey. Although the conference was held every year since 2005, MUNA was founded on 13 October 2008 in Ankara, Turkey. The objectives of the association are promoting MUN activities and creating MUN awareness within the country. This includes visiting schools for training and presentations as well as providing consultancy for high school and universities who wish to establish MUN clubs or societies. The academic and organizational team of MUNTR consists of 32 devoted university students who work in guidance of the United Nations Permanent Representation, along with select bureaucratic entities in order to put together this conference. MUNTR accommodates more than 600 participants each year from all around the world, and thus remains as the largest MUN conference in Turkey, as well as the only one recognized by the United Nations. The 8th annual MUNTR will be held on 5-9 March, 2012 in Antalya, Side at the luxurious five-star Sueno Beach Hotel.
This year, the theme of the conference is Democratization and Conflict Resolution. There will be eleven different committees that will debate on various topics. In MUNTR 2012, a change is made by adding four new committees to the standard seven, for the first time in Turkey: International Court of Justice, Futuristic NATO, African Union and World Health Organization. In addition to offering a diplomatic platform for multi-cultural dialogue on social and political affairs, MUNTR will give delegates a chance to enjoy the historical and natural beauty of the Mediterranean Coast.
The early registration fee is 360 TL (220 USD – 160 EUR) which includes the conference fee along with all-inclusive accommodation of five nights at the Sueno Beach Hotel. We will also provide transportation from the airport to the hotel. This fee is valid until 20 January 2012. After this date, there will be an increase in price.
