Who are the Best College Model UN Teams in America?
Which college Model UN teams are the best in the world?
We saw many benefits to answering this question and devised a methodology to create a set of rankings — we released our first set of rankings based on results up to March 21, 2011. We then took Best Delegate readers’ feedback on the rankings and methodology and made revisions to the methodology accordingly.
Please read the Methodology article first before jumping into the rankings. We clarify in the article our purpose behind the rankings, our philosophy that drives what we value in the rankings, the two Divisions in the college circuit, and several revisions to the methodology.
With that said, here are the top 1-5 teams on the college circuit! These five teams (along with 6th-ranked Harvard) were the elites for this season and consistently racked up awards at all the conferences that they attended — these six teams had a considerable margin in their overall scores compared with the rest of the circuit. Congratulations on a successful year!

The two series of MUN Standings articles we have produced – America’s Best High School Model UN Teams and the Best College Model UN Teams – is the culmination of a lot of work gathering data throughout the year and an attempt at being the first one to centralize and aggregate all this data. The articles have garnered immense interest and we are very excited about the response we have received.
What we wanted to do with this post is to share ten lessons we have learned during this exercise and to open up the comments thread for constructive feedback on not just how to improve the Standings methodology but also on how to address larger issues regarding conferences that your school attends – or doesn’t have the opportunity to attend.

The top of the college circuit is fiercely competitive. U.Penn celebrates one of its many victories here.
Which college Model UN teams are the best in the world? The Best Delegate team decided to answer this question with our Top 25 Standings. We had to separate the college circuit into two divisions and devised methodologies for both divisions. We recommend reading the two links before jumping into the standings.
The standings are based on results as of March 21, 2011 which allowed us to capture results from WorldMUN. The standings reflect only team performances at conferences and not the overall quality of the program (i.e. it does not measure if a program hosts conferences or have any other special activities).
Here is the list of the top 1-5 college Model UN teams. These five teams — along with West Point — each have a team of all-stars and consistently win and contend for multiple best delegation awards each season. They have the results across several of the most competitive conferences to demonstrate their success. Check out which colleges made our Top 25!

International teams have done very well at HNMUN and WorldMUN. United Netherlands is pictured here.
What are the best college Model UN teams in the world? The Best Delegate team decided to answer this question with our International Top 20 Standings. We had to separate the college circuit into two divisions and devised methodologies for both divisions. We recommend reading the two links before jumping into the standings.

Here is the list of the top 20 international college Model UN teams. All these teams have won awards at either Harvard HNMUN or Harvard WorldMUN — the two most competitive conferences in the world. The top five in particular won multiple awards at those conferences and would make the combined Top 25 if we didn’t separate the World Division into a North American list and an International list (see the Methodology page for reasons why we separated the lists). Check out which colleges made our International Top 20!
