Which college Model UN teams are the best in the world?
We saw many benefits to answering this question and devised a methodology to create a set of rankings — we released our first set of rankings based on results up to March 21, 2011. We then took Best Delegate readers’ feedback on the rankings and methodology and made revisions to the methodology accordingly.
Please read the Methodology article first before jumping into the rankings. We clarify in the article our purpose behind the rankings, our philosophy that drives what we value in the rankings, the two Divisions in the college circuit, and several revisions to the methodology.
With that said, here are the top 1-5 teams on the college circuit! These five teams (along with 6th-ranked Harvard) were the elites for this season and consistently racked up awards at all the conferences that they attended — these six teams had a considerable margin in their overall scores compared with the rest of the circuit. Which high schools have the best Model UN team in America? The Best Delegate team decided to answer this question and devised a methodology to come up with our Top 25 Standings. The standings are based on results as of March 21, 2011 which allowed us to capture results from NHSMUN. The standings reflect only team performance at conferences and not the overall quality of a high school program (i.e. it does not measure if a program has a class or hosts a conference).
Here is the list of the top 1-5 high school Model UN teams. All of these schools have won multiple best delegation awards, but their resumes are highlighted by winning a large delegation award at the “Most Competitive” conferences in the nation that have taken place so far: Harvard HMUN, NHSMUN, Georgetown NAIMUN, U.Chicago MUNUC, U.Penn ILMUNC, and Berkeley BMUN. What are the best college Model UN teams in the world? The Best Delegate team decided to answer this question with our Top 25 Standings. We had to separate the college circuit into two divisions and devised methodologies for both divisions. We recommend reading the two links before jumping into the standings.
The standings are based on results as of March 21, 2011 which allowed us to capture results from WorldMUN. The standings reflect only team performances at conferences and not the overall quality of the program (i.e. it does not measure if a program hosts conferences or have any other special activities).
Here is the list of the top 6-10 college Model UN teams. All these teams have the results to distinguish themselves above the programs that placed below it — they have either won or been in contention for a large delegation award at one of the most competitive conferences or they have won multiple small delegation awards this year. The standings reflect only team performance at conferences and not the overall quality of a high school program (i.e. it does not measure if a program has a class or hosts a conference).
Here is the list of the top 6-10 high school Model UN teams. At this level, every school either won an Outstanding Large Delegation or placed third at one of the “Most Competitive” conferences in the country, and most of these schools have won delegation awards or numerous awards at their more local “Large” conference as well.
