Montessori MUN strives to embody the principles of the Montessori educational philosophy, which makes MMUN different than most Model UN conferences.
There are no awards in order to emphasize cooperation and consensus-building between delegates. These are the youngest delegates I’ve seen participate in Model UN — they range from 4th to 9th grade.

The 2011 Montessori Model United Nations Conference (MMUN) has drawn 1,500 4th grade to 9th grade students from around the world. The first day of the conference was designed to get students actively involved in the conference and engage them in an international experience from the beginning.

The National High School Model United Nations Conference (NHSMUN) just started! Led by Secretary-General Max Ross and Director-General Chris Talamo of Dartmouth College, this year’s conference has drawn over 3,000 high school students from more than 150 schools and 20 countries.
