by Ryan on March 24, 2011

The Washington Area Model United Nations Conference (WAMUNC) kicked off tonight! Almost 1,000 delegates from around the country have descended upon Washington, DC and the George Washington University campus.

I had the pleasure of giving the first keynote speech at tonight’s opening ceremonies — check it out below!

UPDATE: You can also hear an audio version of the speech here:

Professor Jay Albanese of Virginia Commonwealth University also delivered a presentation on transnational crime. Secretary-General Kelsey King spoke at the end of opening ceremonies and gaveled the conference into session.

Check back throughout the weekend for more WAMUNC updates!

Agreed! I love all the stories about the different teachers — I think it motivated everyone to want to make the most of their experience!

Awesome presentation Ryan! You are very inspirational to me as a teacher and MUN Advisor. Keep up the great work! It is wonderful to see young people giving credit to teachers at a time when teachers all over the country and the world are under attack from many sides. It gives me hope and faith in the future leaders of this country and the world. At times I want to throw in the towel, however, scenes like this keep me going. Thank you!
