BUSUN Liveblog: Opening Ceremonies and Interviews with Port Charlotte and Edison High Schools

This week, Best Delegate is doing something never done before in Model UN history — liveblogging three conferences at the same time! We will be at the Rutgers Model UN Conference (RUMUN), the Brown University Simulation of the UN (BUSUN), and UCLA’s BruinMUN!

Delegates were clearly excited to be at BUSUN, the first Ivy League-hosted conference of the year. In fact, delegates were giving applause throughout opening ceremonies during Undersecretary-General Shawn Verma’s speech! Check out opening ceremonies plus interviews with Port Charlotte High School and Edison High School below!

Next, guest speaker Loraine Rickard-Martin was a Senior Political Affairs Officer in the Sanctions Branch of the UN Security Council and shared her expertise on sanctions with the delegates.

Co-Secretaries-General Andrew Berg and Jerry Cedrone then opened the conference. Best Delegate had a chance to catch up with two travel teams, Port Charlotte High School from Florida and Edison High School from California.

Students from Port Charlotte actually recognized me since I had covered them when they won Best Delegation at the Georgia Tech MUN Conference earlier this year. Here’s what they were most excited about this weekend:

Edison High School is sending teams to both Brown and UCLA this weekend. Here’s what their travel team to Brown thought about this weekend:

Are you excited about BUSUN this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
