SCSY Awards: U.Penn Dominates; Georgetown Repeats; Columbia and Colgate Also Capture Delegation Awards

Here are the delegation awards from the Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY):

Best Large Delegation: University of Pennsylvania
Outstanding Large Delegation: Georgetown University
Best Small Delegation: Columbia University
Outstanding Small Delegation: Colgate University

U. Penn took Best Large Delegation by winning Best Delegate in almost half of the 20 committees. Their nine gavels went to Head Delegate Roashan Ayene and Bianca Faccio (co-delegates), Gandharv Bedi, Arka Mallela, Charles Schmitt, Yadavan Mahendraraj, David Schwartz, Alex Rodrigues, Johnathan Mell, and Alice Xie. The team has a very ambitious schedule and is competing on every weekend this month. They’ll be at BarMUN this week and at NCSC to cap off October.

Georgetown won an Outstanding Large Delegation for the second week in a row after capturing one at CMUNNY last weekend. Columbia, which hosted CMUNNY last weekend, got off to a strong start by winning Best Small Delegation at their first conference in this season. Colgate had a goal over the summer to improve its team and that work has paid immediate dividends as the team won the Outstanding Small Delegation. Seeing new names such as Colgate and UMass Amherst (which won a delegation award at CMUNNY) win small delegation awards suggests there are several up-and-coming teams that will make the competition for small delegation awards very interesting this year. Harvard was among several other teams winning multiple awards.

Congrats to all the winners! For more memories from the weekend, check out our Photoblog Part I and Photoblog Part II as well as SCSY’s own social media: FlickrTwitter, and Facebook.

Thank you to YIRA President Frankie Costa and the rest of the Yale team for all your help! Also shout outs to all the Best Delegate readers who said hi over the weekend: Cornell, Clark, Roger Williams, U.Penn, the alums of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, etc. Great meeting everyone!

The month is just half over — there’s plenty of action ahead! There are three college conferences this weekend: Boston University’s BarMUN, UNC Charlotte’s CCMUNC, and NMUN DC.
