Apps, A Snapchat Geofilter, and More: UCBMUN and Technological Innovation

by Marta on February 25, 2015

Taking place in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, UCBMUN is maintaining the reputation San Francisco has for innovation in the technology field. For the second year running, the secretariat is presenting its very own app, which is titled ‘UCBMUN XIX.’. In addition, Snapchat has kindly offered the conference its own special geofilter exclusively for delegates in and around the Hilton, San Francisco. Phone-in-hand delegates can now find a guilt free alternative to Candy Crush during committee!

With the start of Berkeley’s conference coming up this weekend, the secretariat is actively encouraging all delegates to download the app ‘UCBMUN XIX’ available for both IOS and Android users (condolences to Blackberry users). The app incorporates information on the conference schedule, committee info, a link to UCBMUN’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, and finally a conference feedback service. New to the app this year is a photo editing and sharing feature, titled MUNChat that will enable a novel way for conference participants to capture and share their MUN journeys with everyone! By consolidating all conference logistics in one application, delegates will have easier access to information on when or where their next committee sessions are.

Accompanying all of this is an updated map feature, which displays a bevy of recommended restaurants, bars, and nearby attractions (perhaps even a gavel polishing shop). Gone are the days of wandering aimlessly through a city looking for a quick bite between sessions. The map feature allows new and old delegates to easily transition to the city of San Francisco. Armed with the app, UCBMUN delegates will be sure to make the most out of the vibrant nightlife, exotic gastronomy, and sights and sounds in San Francisco.

Finally, the secretariat is pleased to present UCBMUN’s very own Snapchat geofilter. The new UCBMUN geofilter, which you can use at the hotel and in the surrounding area, allows delegates a new level of interaction with each other. Delegates are able to follow their fellow MUN-ers on their hijinks from the pub crawl/scavenger hunt to the much-anticipated Jazz Night. This is how it is going to look so get excited…

Overall, the new UBMUN app is a part of a new wave of conference technology keeping delegates updated on all that is related to committee and conference.
