2013-2014 Collegiate Preview: Florida International University

Mark Hodgson, Florida International University’s MUN program director, coaches the award-winning team.  FIU is led by head delegates Ethan Roberts and Anthony Mercado, and they are looking to improve on their 7th place finish overall in last season’s rankings.

What are your goals for this year for your team?

Mark: FIU is returning with a strong core of veterans, and this fall we have received some of the most talented new delegates our program has ever seen. As a historically small delegation team, this fall our emphasis is in building depth in order to potentially compete as a large delegation this Spring. We also look forward to giving back to the MUN community by expanding the quality and number of committees for FIMUN, FIU’s high school conference.

What are you most looking forward to in travel MUN this year?

Mark: A full 50% of FIU delegates have yet to participate in a Model United Nations conference. Nothing is more exciting than watching new delegates compete and experience Model United Nations for the first time. We are looking forward to returning to CMUNNY and UPMUNC this year, and we are particularly excited to experience Georgetown’s National Collegiate Security Conference for the first time.

Each day leading up t0 Yale’s SCSY and Boston University’s BarMUN, we’ll be featuring a few teams. If you would like to see your team featured, and Best Delegate hasn’t contacted you, please reach out to Mari Manoogian at marimanoogian@bestdelegate.com
