Global Classrooms: New York Liveblog

The Global Classrooms: New York conference drew over 600 high school and middle school students from schools in and around New York City. Best Delegation awards went to the Beacon School and East Side Middle School! I was really impressed with the middle school students in particular, who were very engaged in committee and spoke with eloquence beyond their years.

Opening ceremonies featured speakers Ambassador Joseph Melrose, UNA-USA Executive Director Edward Elmendorf, and GC:NY Secretary-General Marco Alberti of Seton Hall. I had a chance to interview Marco about the conference and his own Model UN experience. He started doing MUN in middle school and has attended over 100 conferences.

Congratulations to all students, advisors, staff, and UNA-USA on a successful conference! And thank you for having me visit!
