But we know Model UN is about more than just the awards — read the full article to learn how delegates had fun and made a difference this weekend.
By our count at Closing Ceremonies, Georgetown led the way with five Best Delegate awards and was followed by Columbia, Michigan State, and NYU capturing two Best Delegate awards each. The following colleges had one delegate each win Best Delegate: West Point, SUNY Genesco, Cornell, Boston College, Miami, William & Mary, Wilfried Laurier, Yale, Wellesley, Carleton, and Rutgers. The accuracy of this list will be verified soon.
But we all know Model UN is not just about the awards — it’s about the fun memories and about making a difference. And the delegates made sure that they made a difference this weekend by donating $3,269 to the conference-sponsored charity, the Cambodian Children’s Fund! The Special Session on Children raised the most donations overall and the Arctic Council raised the most per capita. The Google Board of Directors was also noted for going out into the cold streets of Montreal to ask for donations.
Congratulations everyone on the awards, the fundraising, and the fun times!
