U.Chicago won Best Large Delegation

The National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC) had an inspiring Opening Ceremonies and featured tons of intense debate over dynamic crises over four days. In a tightly-contested conference, the delegation award winners are:

  • Best Large: University of Chicago
  • Outstanding Large: University of Pennsylvania
  • Best Small: Yale University
  • Outstanding Small: United States Military Academy at West Point

One of the most colorful parts of college Model UN is seeing the teams do their school chants. Georgetown obviously led the way at NCSC:

We took a few team photos during Opening Ceremonies, and here are some team photos from Closing Ceremonies:

U.Chicago rolls on with its second straight Best Large Delegation award this year

Yale is soaring high after winning Best Small Delegation

West Point is proud of display their Outstanding Small Delegation award

Rutgers is excited after a successful conference

Florida State gets together for a group photo

The young George Washington team is all smiles after gaining a good experience at NCSC

Awards analysis: Although traditional powers U. Chicago, U. Penn, Yale, and West Point won the delegation awards, no team dominated and many of the teams including the delegation award winners were close with each other in terms of total number of awards won and in terms of weighted awards won (NCSC uses 5 points for Best, 3 for Outstanding, and 2 for Honorable Mention plus a counterweight based on gross points earned). Rutgers and Florida International kept the competition close, and Harvard, Emory, Columbia, McGill, NYU, and Florida State also had multiple award winners. Other schools with award winners include: Stanford, Pittsburgh, Cornell, William & Mary, Virginia, Mount Holyoke, Delaware, Clemson, Vanderbilt, SUNY Geneseo, and Elon.

If you haven’t done so already, check out our liveblog photos of delegates in action from every committee!

Congratulations to all the delegates! And thank you to the entire NCSC staff for having me over the weekend!

great conference all around. although i’m still a little hesitant about those quasi-GAs. from what i hear competition was fierce, and a single award separated the best large and outstanding large. looking forward to ncsc next year!

    KFC,

Love the website. Can you please elaborate what you mean by “Although traditional powers U. Chicago, U. Penn, Yale, and West Point won the delegation awards, no team dominated and many of the teams including the delegation award winners were close with each other in terms of total number of awards won and in terms of weighted awards won”

How close were the other schools? Did any non-traditional powers win more than usual? Thanks :)
