Dear Advisors, Head Delegates, and Fellow MUN-ers,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Columbia Model United Nations in New York (CMUNNY); this year’s session will take place October 4th-7th at Columbia University’s Morningside Heights Campus. We have officially opened our registration process and encourage all delegations to take advantage of exceptionally favorable rates during the early registration period. On that note, we would like to briefly outline what makes CMUNNY a uniquely compelling experience.
A Great Conference in the Greatest City
For anyone who has ever been frustrated with the hours between opportunities to speak in General Assembly, CMUNNY promises to focus exclusively on small and medium sized committees, with the vast majority of simulations having only 18-20 delegates. Our exceptionally high staff-delegate ratio allows us to provide original, engaging, and crisis-driven debates in contexts ranging from historical to modern-day to futuristic. Some sample committees include “Latin American Revolutionaries: Congress of Angostura-Cucuta, 1819,” “On Thin Ice: Icelandic Althing, 2009” and the “Summit on American Nuclear Safety, 2050” among many other exciting bodies that cover all continents and time periods.
Debate by Day, Adventure by Night
Core to our conference’s appeal has been the opportunity to experience intense debate by day, and the excitement of New York by night.You can expect great social events to help you unwind, mingle, and meet delegates from around the world. We will not be renting a hotel ballroom–instead, our Public Relations staff is working to secure some of the hottest venues to truly experience New York nightlife. In addition to the Friday and Saturday social events, the conference will feature a Thursday Night Delegate Reception and a Graduate and Summer Opportunities Fair during the weekend.
Focus on Having a Great Time
We know that delegation administrative work is always a headache, so we try our best to smooth out the process as much as possible. For one, we understand that New York City is an experience that comes at a price, so we help defray costs by holding our fees to some of the most competitive on the circuit. Moreover, we have signed agreements and compiled information on a variety of hotels so as to facilitate simple, rapid booking while providing favorable rates for delegations with widely differing budgets. Overall, we strive to work with and understand the challenges of each delegation, and we will always be available to answer any questions or concerns that you might have.
