Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my distinct pleasure to invite you and your school to another year of spirited debate, informed negotiations, and creative problem-solving at the twenty-ninth session of the world-renowned Ivy League Model United Nations Conference. Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania International Affairs Association, ILMUNC is a known for substantive excellence paired with an unmatched events schedule beyond committee, ranging from tours to a summer opportunities fair to an incredible delegate dance.
This year, ILMUNC will be held from January 24th – 27th at the Sheraton Philadelphia Center City Hotel in the heart of the city of Brotherly Love. The conference is minutes away from Philadelphia’s most historic landmarks and its cultural icons, including the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Rittenhouse Square.
Our Conference Secretariat and our staff of over 200 University of Pennsylvania student leaders are working diligently to provide a forum for tomorrow’s leaders to develop their skills and knowledge of the world they will soon inherit. Our staff members are rigorously trained both through internal programs and through first-hand experience – more of of our staff members participate as delegates at the collegiate level than those of any other college-run conference in the United States.
We focus on staff quality to ensure that we provide a challenging and formative environment filled with thought-provoking debate topics and challenging crises. While maintaining a high level of debate that challenges even the most experienced delegates, we also pride ourselves on the resources we provide to further delegate development, such as our unique all-novice committee, our pre-conference workshops, and our brand-new remote training programs.
This year we are proud to present 24 diverse committees ranging from the mainstay General Assemblies to our top secret Ad-Hoc committee. These committees will require agile thinking and in-depth research, pushing delegates to expand their world view and value varied perspectives. The committees are the core of the ILMUNC experience and we work vigorously throughout the year to ensure that everything from the preparation materials to the moderation at conference is of the highest quality.
ILMUNC also provides an unmatched experience beyond committee, with a focus on personal growth and networking. While committees provide the bulk of the experience and education, we at ILMUNC view the time outside of committee as a vital time to both look to the future and to have fun. We offer campus tours to the University of Pennsylvania – one of the nation’s finest institutions of higher learning, as well as a panel of students to give insight into the college experience. In addition, we host an admissions session in the hotel as well as our brand new Summer and Opportunities Fair for those students looking to take the next steps in their personal development. To kick back, on Friday night we host Delegate Fest with a live band, and finish the conference Saturday night on a high note with our highly-anticipated Delegate Dance.
Finally, we at ILMUNC seek to constantly improve our conference and push the activity further. To that end, we are introducing the Summer and Opportunities Fair, our remote training program, a paperless committee, online Q&A sessions with chairs pre-conference, and more! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me sec-gen@ilmunc.com or call me at (201)-566-6169. Priority Registration is now open, and the school fee is waived for those who register during the Priority Registration period. My secretariat and I look forward to welcoming you next January!
Warm regards,
Yadavan Mahendraraj
