Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is our distinct pleasure to cordially invite you to the sixth installment of Columbia Model United Nations in New York (CMUNNY), which will be held from October 6th through October 9th 2011.
Since its inception in 2006, CMUNNY has offered its delegates an unrivaled Model UN experience by running highly-personalized, engaging and dynamic crisis committees. In the past, we have run simulations of state governments (such as the Pakistani Cabinet), peace negotiations (such as the Camp David Accords), as well as unconventional decision-making bodies (such as the Kurdistan Workers’ Party). This year, we again look forward to running committees that will cover a wide array of geographical areas and time periods, and we are confident that every delegate will be able to find a CMUNNY committee that sparks his or her interest.
A sample of the list of the committees that we will have the distinct pleasure of running is as follows:
- The Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General
- Alberto Fujimori’s Peru, 1995-6
- Ending the 30 Years War: Peace of Westphalia, 1645
- Russian Security Council, 2012
- India: National Democratic Alliance Convention, 2013
- Xian Conference, 1936
CMUNNY is also located in one of the most exciting and fascinating cities in the world, New York City. Therefore, the delegates will have easy access to the many social opportunities New York City has to offer. In addition, the conference itself will play host to several great social events that will complement and complete delegates’ Model UN experience.
We very much look forward to the most intellectually stimulating and enjoyable conference that we know CMUNNY VI will be, and I hope that you do too. In the meantime, please refer to our website at www.cmunny.org for a more detailed description of the conference as well as the committees. Registration has already commenced. We highly encourage you to register by our early registration deadline of June 15th, which will enable you to take advantage of our special early registration fees and will guarantee your delegation a spot in our conference.
We will be continually updating the website to reflect the progress we make as we plan CMUNNY VI, but if you have any pressing questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the CMUNNY Secretariat at secretariat@cmunny.org.
Thank you very much for your time, and we hope to see you in October!
Kind regards,
Duygu Yilmaz
Secretary-General, CMUNNY VI
