Best Delegate is now a certified B Corp, part of a group of over 5000 companies dedicated to bringing out the best in each other, their communities, and the environment!
What is a B Corp?
A B Corp is a company that is committed to making a positive social impact on society and the environment. B Corps undergo rigorous examination including an extensive questionnaire with sufficient documentation and evidence to ensure that they meet the stringent requirements necessary in the categories of governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
The requirements to become a B Corp are stringent and the test is administered by the B Lab, a non-profit network whose goal is to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.
To be registered as a certified B Corp, Best Delegate put itself through extreme scrutiny, looking at records, especially our Ten Year Impact Report, noting that our website has had over 5 million visits, over 5,000 students attending our programs, and working with school districts, national governments, and the United Nations.
Why Does it Matter?
At Best Delegate’s Model UN programs, we teach students to be leaders and global citizens. We help students learn about global issues, develop the leadership skills needed to make change in their communities, and explore the values and behaviors of global citizens. If we are going to teach students to be global citizens, then we, as an organization, should also embody the values of global citizenship.
What we do in Model UN and at Best Delegate is we teach students about how to make the world a better place. We are teaching students to be leaders. We are teaching them how to be global citizens, giving them knowledge about global issues. We are teaching them skills to make change. B Corp Certification provides a framework by which we can achieve a credible standard for social impact and global citizenship. It allows us to hold ourselves accountable to a global standard and demonstrate the positive social impact we have on our customers, workers, and communities. And it brings us into a growing global community of businesses who hold each other accountable and help each other improve their practices.
