Mission Viejo High School Model United Nations (MVHS MUN) hosted over 1,000 delegates on the 30th anniversary of its conference. The conference theme was Initium Novum — New Beginnings. The theme was relevant for many reasons ranging from new beginnings to solving global crises as shown in the Opening Ceremonies video to new beginnings at Mission Viejo High School as one of the largest MUN programs in the world has new faculty advisors this year.
I had the opportunity to be the keynote speaker during Opening Ceremonies and I also addressed the theme of New Beginnings. The speech included a new beginning for delegates to be true Best Delegates, a new beginning for the chairs to deliver the best customer service, and insight into my own new beginning as a co-founder of Best Delegate and how my own MUN journey relates to what the delegates in attendance will experience in the next few years.
Last but not least, MVHS MUN raised $1500 for their charity this year, 20 Wells, with the money going to building wells for safe drinking water in Africa.
Delegation Awards:
Huntington Beach High School won the Best Large Delegation and Capistrano Valley High School won the Best Small Delegation. The conference also gave out three country delegation awards for GA, ECOSOC, and Specialized committees, and Huntington Beach won two of them and Santa Margarita Catholic High School took the other.
