Best Delegate is a long-time supporter of UNA-USA, and we wanted to share two of their upcoming opportunities that would be relevant to Americans who do Model UN.
Apply to be the U.S. Youth Observer to the UN
Do you have a passion for international affairs? Do you want to travel the country and the world to serve as a voice for young Americans? You just might be the next U.S. Youth Observer to the United Nations.
Applications are now open to apply to be the 2018-2019 U.S. Youth Observer to the UN!
This role is appointed annually by the U.S. Department of State and United Nations Association of the USA. For a one-year term, an American between the ages of 18-25 is selected to travel throughout the country and connect with thousands of other young Americans to find out the issues most important to them.
UNA-USA is looking for a poised, internationally-engaged young American to fill this role for the 2018-2019 year. Qualified individuals are:
- Passionate and entrepreneurial about civic engagement, youth issues, and the United Nations
- Digitally engaged and talented writers, with a knack for communicating online in creative and effective ways and quickly turning around blog posts to inform other youth
- Intellectually curious and able to have meaningful conversations with high-level individuals
- Experienced public speakers who are enthusiastic about engaging with young Americans
- Dedicated to making the world a better place
Sound like you or someone you know? Applications must be submitted by Sunday, April 29 at 11:59 pm EST. You can find complete details on how to apply here.
Advocate for the UN on Capitol Hill
It matters now more than ever that we make our voices heard to protect the vital work of the United Nations. With proposed bills in Congress aimed at either dramatically reducing US funding for the UN or withdrawing our country entirely from the global body, the UNA-USA community must come together and fight for what we know is right: Standing with refugees; demanding equality for women; protecting LGBT rights; combatting climate change; working for peace; and more.
The United Nations Association of the USA will host its annual Leadership Summit at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC, from June 10-12. There you’ll meet with high-ranking U.S. Government and UN officials, learn from global experts, gain invaluable tools to bring back home for chapter sustainability, and urge Congress to stand with the UN. If you are looking for an opportunity to tell Congress how important the UN is to you, this is it!
Register before April 15th to receive a special early bird rate of $20 for students.
