The University of North Carolina Model United Nations Conference (UNC MUNC) hosted its second annual college conference in February at its campus in Chapel Hill. The conference is very new and still growing but had positive reviews on its staff and organization. Delegates came from Duke University, Emory University, Florida International University, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, United States Naval Academy, University of Mary Washington, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and Virginia Tech.
Delegates and advisors wrote in that the conference staff was exceptionally professional and did everything possible to keep delegations informed of what was going on at all times. Amanda Conklin, the Secretary-General, provided delegates with her personal phone number in case anyone got lost or had questions about what to do in Chapel Hill. Others mentioned the staff, location, organization, and diverse committees as pluses.
Best Delegate awards in each committee went to:
1. Boulder Leadership Committee: St Mary’s College
2. Disaster Preparedness Task Force: Florida International University
3. Roman Council: United States Naval Academy
4. Zimbabwe 2008: Florida International University
The Best Delegation: Florida International University
