Conference Recaps and Awards
Manlius Pebble Hill wins Best Delegation at Upstate Mohawk Valley MUN. In another stunning performance, Manlius Pebble Hill’s Model United Nations Team won the Best Delegation Award at the December 11 Upstate Mohawk Valley Model United Nations Conference, sponsored by Colgate University. MPH, in addition, won 11 major outer committee awards at the conference, in which some 500 students from 16 Central New York high schools participated. Despite already having amassed a string of successes this year, the MPH MUN team, Mr. Mangram noted, does not intend to rest on its laurels. “We have two big conferences coming up at Syracuse University and Cal-Berkeley,” he said, “and I expect the students to perform at high levels there also!”
Webb wins at High Tech High MUN. Webb’s MUN team traveled to San Diego to compete at the High Tech High MUN conference. The team represented Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina and captured eight awards including two for Best Delegates in the Novice Security Council.
Saint Edwards’ Diplomacy Skills Sharpened at Stanford. A delegation of students from Saint Edwards Upper School in Florida traveled to California to attend the Stanford MUN Conference. The Stanford conference challenged students on a wide array of topics including Kosovo, Korea, and Afghanistan. Saint Edwards students took some time to enjoy the sights in San Francisco and will hit the road again in the spring when they travel to compete at an international MUN conference in Russia.
Osbourn Park High School Wins Big at William & Mary. The Osbourn Park High School Model United Nations (OP-MUN) expanded their record of success at the recent Model UN Conference held at The College of William & Mary. The team won one Best Delegate award, an Outstanding Delegate award, and four Honorable Mentions.
Rocky Mountain High School wins at RHSMUN. The Rocky Mountain High School’s Model United Nations team won the Superior Delegation award at the Regional High School Model United Nations held recently in Salt Lake City, Utah. “This is the 9th time in 10 years that the Rocky team has collected at least one award at the conference, which features MUN teams from California, Oregon, Utah and Colorado,” explained Paul De Maret, RMHS teacher.
