Model UN, But So Much More!
WFUNA is excited to call out for participants and secretariat positions for MUNers in the Best Delegate community! We are hosting our first international Model UN conference this summer and are excited to invite everyone to this great event!
WFUNA International Model United Nations (WIMUN) is the flagship Model UN conference hosted and organized by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in partnership with the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI-UNA Italy). We are expecting 700+ delegates from around the world to enjoy a 5-day live simulation of UN committees at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy from 30 June – 4 July 2014.
4 Reasons to Experience WIMUN 2014
1. The Real UN Experience
This conference will be the first international Model UN to be hosted at the FAO Headquarters in Rome for the full duration of the event. Participants will not only have access to the Plenary Assembly hall but also small and medium sized conference rooms in which UN delegates work on a daily base.
At WIMUN 2014:
- Both the Opening and Closing ceremony will be held at the Food and Agriculture Organization Plenary Hall.
- All committee sessions will be held at meeting rooms inside the FAO headquarters.
- The UN, foreign ministry, NGOs, and the academia will offer keynote speech, training, and topic briefing.
2. UNGA Rules of Procedure: the most accurate UN conference simulation
WFUNA has been working closely with the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) and many Model UN experts to introduce a set of Rules of Procedures which best reflect the actual practice of the UN General Assembly and committees. Participants will receive a two-day workshop, which includes training and topic briefings from UN staff members and education experts.
3. Model UN Fair: showcase your Model UN!
WIMUN will allow Model UN conference organizers to showcase their event throughout the conference at the FAO headquarters. The Model UN fair is designed for international, regional, and local Model UN’s to connect and share its program and further help promote Model UN events worldwide.
4. Why Rome?
As one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, Rome is home to three of UN’s key agencies: the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). With an underlying theme focusing on the post-2015 development agenda, it will be an incredible experience to meet and engage with experts from the three agencies during the briefings provided at WIMUN.
Call for Senior Secretariat members
We are proud to announce the call for Senior Secretariat positions at WIMUN 2014. A total of 12 positions are open for participants to apply. Diversity and experience is what we value from our applicants. We have already received a wide range of applicants from 16 different countries and are expecting more in the coming days. The organizing committee is calling out for experienced MUNer’s who can bring perspective into the preparation and implementation of the program. Most importantly, we would love to share the fun and excitement we expect in the coming months preparing for the conference.
