Best Delegate offers a variety of programs based on experience level and grade level. Whether you’re looking for virtual or in person programs, programs for elementary, middle, or high school students, and whether you’ve got a lot of experience or you’re new to MUN, Best Delegate has options for you! To understand what program is best for you, we need to know four things: your location, time period of your ideal program, your grade, and your level of Model UN experience
School Year Programs
If you’re looking for enrichment during the school year: whether to supplement a school Model UN program or to get in on the action, our suite of school year programs are a great way to do MUN and more MUN!
Location and Time: Anytime, Anywhere!
Luckily, all of our MUN Teams programs for the school year are virtual, meaning that you can take part in them from anywhere. If you’re in North America, you have a variety of options including Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday evening options. If you live abroad, we have a Sunday morning EST option, which allows students from across the world to join us (3 PM in Qatar, 5:30 PM in India, & 8 PM in China). Our MUN Teams programs are for both Middle School and High School students and are split based off of prior experience and skill level with MUN.
Less Time Commitment
If you’re looking for something with less time commitment than an hour per week, our Virtual Model UN Conferences are perfect. A six-hour session with a full simulation: starting with opening speeches and ending with awards is a great way to hone your MUN skills from research to debate to writing and building consensus. We offer our Virtual Model UN Conferences from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time on one Saturday every month! We offer two different topics each month: one for delegates in training and one for our more advanced delegates, featuring heavier topics, specialized bodies, or even crisis committees!
New to MUN
If you’re new to Model UN, our Model UN 101 Workshop is a great place to start. A three-hour crash course in all things MUN, from parliamentary procedure to resolution writing, all with expert MUN Mentors from top colleges. These are held once per month from November to April, giving you the chance you experience and understand MUN before jumping in.
More MUN
If you’ve already decided to enroll in the MUN Teams program (mentioned above) and are in grades 8 to 12 and want more MUN, we’re currently offering the opportunity to go to one of the premier conferences in the United States, National High School MUN which takes place in New York City! If you’re looking for more MUN at a more competitive level, this is a great way to take your skills learned from the program and apply them at a conference that draws world-wide participation.
Peer Mentorship
Best Delegate also offers a Peer Mentor program (by application only) where students with MUN Experience can mentor other students, serve as crisis staff or vice chairs, and help create MUN content.
Private Coaching
If you want more personalized feedback and help, we offer private, one-on-one coaching sessions between you and an expert mentor who can help accelerate your preparation for conferences and understanding of MUN and the skills necessary as a whole. Flexible dates and times allow you to work on their MUN skills on your own schedule, and prepare for your upcoming conference with ease!
Advisors
During the school year, we also offer a specialized one-day workshop for teachers led by Ryan Villanueva, Best Delegate Co-Founder and Chief Education Officer. Both high school and middle school teachers can come and learn about the great ways that you can help your students learn Model UN and understand and gain the skills that are needed to become not only an excellent MUN delegate but also a global citizen.
Summer Programs
We also have a whole host of summer programs, so you can hone your skills before the school year, learn the basics of Model UN, and discuss global topics that interest you.
In Person Camps (Ages 11-18)
Our in person camps help you gain confidence in public speaking while learning on a top university campus, like UCLA, UC Berkeley, Boston University, and Georgetown University! We offer both day camps and overnight camps. Both types of our in person camps also help you enhance your debate skills and socialize in person with new friends, while working with our top-notch MUN mentors.
If you’re 11 to 13, then you can take part in our Junior programs: our Junior Diplomat if you’re a MUN beginner and our Junior Ambassador program if you’re more advanced and ready for a further challenge. If you’re 14-18, we have three in-person programs: our Diplomat program if you’re a beginner, our Ambassador program if you’re more advanced, and our Crisis program, if you’re looking to spice things up some more!
Virtual Camps
On the other hand, our virtual camps allow you to explore the wonders of MUN from the comfort of your home. Whether you’re far from our in person camps or just want to relax and learn MUN without the pressure of stepping outside of your house, our virtual programs feature 15 hours of live weekly programs to enhance your public speaking and debate skills. At the Virtual Model UN Institute, you can debate numerous different issues like healthcare, climate change, gun rights, and more, while learning about strategies to discuss these complex issues both in MUN and in the real world.
We offer programs for ages 9-18, with our Mini Diplomat program for those in Upper Elementary (9-10 years old), our Junior Diplomat (beginner), Junior Ambassador (intermediate), and Junior Crisis (advanced) programs for those in Middle School (ages 11-13), and our four High School (14-18) programs, with our Diplomat (beginner), Ambassador (intermediate), Crisis (advanced), and Student Leadership team for those looking for a greater role in their school or community Model UN Team.
Whether you’re completely new to Model UN or an old hat, and regardless of your preferences regarding location, Best Delegate has a comprehensive suite of programs for you to enjoy!
