Best Delegate wishes everyone in the Model UN community a happy Thanksgiving! In honor of Thanksgiving in the United States, KFC and I wanted to share seven of the things we’re thankful for: all the Best Delegate fans, advisors, conference organizers, clubs, our friends & alumni, our parents, and the Best Delegate team.

Best Delegate Fans: To anyone who has ever read a post, left a comment, sent us an email, liked our Facebook page, followed us on Twitter, or spoke with us at a conference — thank you. Every time we meet someone who says, “Your articles helped me do better in Model UN,” we are reminded of why we decided to do Best Delegate full-time. We also want to thank fans who’ve been so passionate about Best Delegate that they have written strategy articles for us in the past year: Andrew Roush, Laura Bernstein, and Rachel Cheong.

Model UN Advisors: I would really like to thank my former Model UN advisor, and now my colleague, Mr. Dominic Trevino, for teaching me Model UN, supporting Best Delegate through the years, and bringing me back to Mission Viejo to teach. I’m thankful for all of the students and parents of MVHSMUN.

I’m also thankful to the Southern California advisors I’ve had the pleasure of working with: John Remmell of Santa Margarita, Dr. Jim Dimitriou of Palos Verdes Peninsula, Bob Timberlake of Mira Costa, Jason Watanabe of Cerritos, Brendan Patch of Edison, Genevieve Oakes of University High School in Irvine, and David Waldram of Tustin. On the East Coast, we’re thankful for the continuous feedback from Katie Boland of Trumbull, Bob Johnson of Port Charlotte, Clarissa Bushman of Stuyvesant, Lou Guglielmo of Franklin, and Ray Hernandez of FIU.

Conference Organizers: Thanks to all the high school and college conferences that have allowed us to visit, learn about the Model UN community, and promote Best Delegate. Special thanks go to several conferences and their organizers who have been very supportive of us in the past year by giving us the opportunity to inspire through keynote speeches, workshops, panel discussions, and other special projects: NHSMUN, WAMUNC, McMUN, SSUNS, BruinMUN, SHUMUN, Montessori MUN, Stanford MUN, FCMUN, CCCMUN, and JPSMUN.

Clubs: Thank you to the following high school clubs and their students for their continued support including: Cerritos, Gulf Coast, Gunn, JP Stevens, Peddie, Stuyvesant, Torrey Pines, Trumbull, University High School of Arizona, West Windsor-Plainsboro North, and West Windsor-Plainsboro South.

And thank you to the numerous college programs and their leaders who have helped us in many ways on the high school and/or the college circuits including: Boston University, Columbia, Cornell, Delaware, Florida International, George Washington, Georgetown, Harvard, McGill, Miami, Michigan State, Middlebury, Mt. Holyoke, Roger Williams, Texas, U.Chicago, U.Penn, UC Davis, UCLA, UCSB, Vermont, West Point, Yale, and York.

Friends & MUN Alumni: The unsung heroes of Best Delegate are all of our friends who have allowed us to stay with them while we are traveling on the road. We would not be able to cover so much of the Model UN community without their help. On a similar note, we have to thank all of our MUN alumni friends who have been so excited to see our growth and provided valuable feedback, knowledge, and contacts for us. In addition, KFC thanks his colleagues at AT&T who were supportive when he decided to leave the company in July.

Parents: KFC and I are definitely thankful for our parents, who have been very supportive of our decisions to leave our jobs and start a company. We are also thankful for the parents of Model UN students who have been very supportive of what we do.

The Team: And last but not least, thank you to the Best Delegate team for keeping us going: Sarah, Parsa, and Emily.
